From the instant I drafted Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, locking up the Buffalo Sabres goaltending tandem (you're jealous, I know), I've been getting a number of #approaches on Ilya Sorokin.
This is the guy who invented the 8 year 8.25m AAV contract - so the Isles have faith in this guy. The Isles you say? Gross! Well sure, maybe that was the case when Patrick Roy wasn't the coach, but ol' Patty has himself some standards and he won't accept losing.
Now Ilya was obviously battling something at the end of last season, but that was fixed up in the off-season as you can see from his current .953 save percentage good for second in the NHL. Varlyfest is over, they're invested in Sorokin and he'll once again be one of these 60-70 start type guys as the 36 year old Varlamov skates into the sunset.
Asking Price
So what am I looking for? Starting price is a first rounder and a good youngster (I would prefer one who's currently playing but if the prospect is sexy enough, then I might be game). If you want to try two first rounders, we can talk about that, too.
I know there are a couple of teams out there who can use him either as insurance or as an upgrade or because maybe they don't even have a goalie.
