Casey Mittlestadt
It sure was funny when he couldn't do a pull-up at the combine because he had a should injury, wasn't it? Well Casey's older now (still only 24) and the breakout is on. Buffalo's continuing to excite and it's going to be fun to own a share of that isn't it? Here's the thing though, if you weren't paying attention, you missed something significant. Sure, Mittelstadt was 1 point short of 60 points - yes, this is a 60 pointer 24 year old - but did you know he had 31 points in his final 32 games?
Marco Kasper
You can go find the scouting reports on this sexy youngster, but it'll be stuff like this:
"Kasper is among Rögle’s most relied-upon forwards in the SHL. In addition to his 19 points in 38 games — the most among all U20 players in the league — he’s a plus-12, which leads the team"
The guy's a stud and just 19 years old. If you believe in the Yzerplan and like taking on guys who went 8th overall in their draft, give Marco a sniff.
Shane Pinto
Pinto had 7 points in this first 8 games last season, but last season was also his first full NHL season after having only cups of coffee the previous two seasons. (He might get even more ice time if Batherson gets a suspension for that whole 2018 World Juniors things). He's already a 20 goal-scorer in the league with more to come.
Joel Farabee
Joel's a true bubble guy for me, but one I'm leaning towards keeping given the direction the Flyers are taking here. They'll be getting rid of as many vets as they can which will leave someone like Farabee with a lot of ice time. The kid's only 22 years old but has 4 NHL seasons under his belt and he's ready to bust out. If you've watched Flyers games the past few seasons (Hi, Darall!) you know that he's already shown flashes of greatness.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Did you that from February to April, Jesperi Kotkaniemi led the Hurricanes in scoring? He's only 22, but this is already his fifth season even at that tender young age. If you want to get in on the Hurricane's this should be a cheap entry point for you.
