Well boys the dog days of summer are here, time for some food for thought. We’ll be busy this offseason leading up to the draft and there’s plenty of goodies for everyone to enjoy.

PLAYERS:
Aleksander “Sasha” Barkov
Not much needs to be said about this one. The unquestionable leader and heartbeat of the Florida Panthers, Sasha is that guy. You’ll find him on the ice in every situation and this is the type of add that wins SCHL championships. I have no problem building my young stable around him but if the right deal comes across my desk he’s getting moved.

Owen “Tippy Toes” Tippett
The Red Rocket is now about to enter what will easily be his best chance to finally have that monster breakout season. The Flyers are primed and ready to build off last seasons success and he’ll be at the forefront. You’ll find him on the top line and PP1 without a doubt. His speed and shot have me thinking a possible 40 goal season is within reach now that he finally has some talent around him. Don’t sleep on Tippy Toes.

Aliaksei “Big Pro” Protas
Big Pro has shown spurts of what’s to come over the past two seasons and now it’s his time to shine. The guy reminds me of a young Barkov and has all the tools to become a star. This young stud plays in all situations and Big Pro should be playing on the top line with PP minutes on a stacked Caps roster. I have no doubt a career year will be had in 2026/27.

Tyson “Gump” Foerster
Fresh off signing a huge new deal, the Flyers obviously see the same things I see in Gump. If you haven’t seen this kid’s shot yet, I recommend checking out his highlights. A world class release that has all the makings of a 40+ goal scorer and had his last season not been cut short from a freak injury he was on pace to reach 37. Part of the Flyers studly young forward corps, this kid will be on the top line and PP1 without a doubt.

Easton “Cowboy” Cowan
With a year in the bigs under his belt and yet another championship added to his resume, this kid seems to just step up when the games get bigger. First a Memorial Cup and now a Calder Cup to go with it, is a Stanley next? Leafs fans sure hope so. With the addition of the 1st overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft Gavin McKenna, Austin Matthews, William Nylander, John Tavares and Matthew Knies, there’s no shortage of high end studs for this young muffin to be playing alongside next season. Expect a top six role, a spot on the PP and a new career high in points for Easton in 2026/27.

Trevor “T-Mite” Connelly
Say hi to the Vegas Golden Knights top prospect. This kid has a tool kit that’d make Bob The Builder jealous. Elite skater? Check. Elite passer? Check. Elite shot? Checkity check. Over a PPG in the AHL in his rookie season, there’s nothing to prove there anymore. Earning a spot on the Golden Knights opening night roster is up next for T-Mite, and with Dorofeyev now gone, don’t be surprised to see this young stud slide into a top six role in 2026/27.

Danila Yurov
After making the trek across the globe Danila The Thrilla found himself trying to navigate his way through his first NHL season. Showing flashes of the player that broke Tanks KHL record for most points by an U21 player he’ll need to earn that now vacant spot in the top six with the departure of Zucs. A line involving Kapri/Yurov/Boldy in 2026/27 is looking more and more likely.

Ville Koivunen/Rutger McGroarty
In what was supposed to be a down year for an aging Pens squad, we saw this cagey vet team pull of an unexpected season, capped off with actually making the playoffs. After their strong finish to the 2024/25 season it was highly expected that both would make the team this year but with Pens having such a competitive year, they were on the outside looking in and found themselves in the minors. Both of these two top Pens prospects had very successful seasons in the AHL, each with over a PPG avg. It’s not too far fetched to think they’ll be making the Pens roster out of camp in 2026/27.
